T-505 (the owner's "cheaper part pictures", 2026-11-03). A frame without its parts (flag 128) used to carry one signature of all its parts; when it moved, the parts pass composed and read every part. Now each rect of the parts list has a signature of its own: the outermost fixed or sticky layer's subtree as before, every subtree layer's last paint as the stamp of one counter that only goes up (CompositableTransactionParent stamps each compositable update's layer, part or not: a layer that becomes a part later carries it — review F2), the part's scale and the sub-pixel phase of its position, where it sits inside the rect and its size (review F3: a part wider than the frame moving sideways, or moving inside a merged rect, keeps the rect's size), and the rect's size; a rect no part's rect meets (a nested part's own) takes every part's with its index and place (review F6). The whole signature is the rects' and the global paint count, so a daemon with the one signature behaves as before (every part read when any moved). jihad_offscreen_compose_post3/start3 (jihad_offscreen_overview_ok answers 4) take the list of signatures the daemon holds pictures of; the pass packs and reads only the rects whose signature is not in it, in rect order, and the poll's 54 ints carry each rect's signature (49..52) and the rects read as a mask (53). post2/start2 keep their meaning. Measured by finger on desktop Wikipedia (its two sidebars; the contents panel, 310 of 340 KB, is the one that changes): the pass reads the panel alone, 10.4 -> 11.4 fps flowing; the long page unchanged. Verify 0 wrong rows over the scripted pans on both (docs/rounds/t505-2026-11-03/notes.txt). Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Unified XUL Platform (UXP)
This repository holds the code for a unified application platform for XUL-based applications. It is a hard fork from the Mozilla code repository (mozilla-central) with an ESR-52 fork point.
In addition to further development based on the Mozilla upstream code, and selective cherry-picking of directly-applicable patches, this repository has its own development and holds the base for a maintained platform to be used by XUL applications.
Additional documentation
Additional documentation relevant to this source code can be found in the /docs
directory. This will contain relevant documentation regarding contributing,
using and distributing this code and its binaries.
If you are interested in the development and building side of things, some information will be available on the Pale Moon developer site. You are also always welcome to get in touch with our community on the Pale Moon forum.
Code search
While our repo has basic code searching capabilities (via git grep), you are strongly
encouraged to instead use the dedicated code search and cross-referencing site:
https://xref.palemoon.org/
This repo and a copy of the front-end are amalgamated in the goanna-central index.
A note about trademarks and branding
Although this repository is primarily licensed under Mozilla Public License v2.0, the trademarks and brands contained herein remain the property of their respective owners. For more details, please see the notifications in the respective directories.
Foundation and maintainership
This repository has been founded by Moonchild (M.C. Straver) and is maintained by him and other community members. If you fork this repository to perform your own work on it, please consider offering improvement patches upstream to its origin to mutually improve the platform and build a future for XUL.
Looking for Pale Moon?
As of Issue #969, release version 28.9.0,
applications have been split off into their own dedicated (front-end) repositories, with Pale Moon located at
MoonchildProductions/Pale-Moon.
