Moonchild 72d0b86709 [Toolkit] Update logopage styling.
Part of the UX refresh Pale Moon effort. This uses the new -moz-dark-theme media

(often not sane) system color values.

Jeremy Andrews 4dac05e0e0 Issue #1776 - Support detecting bool preferences in chrome stylesheets
This functionality was already added to Gecko for UA stylesheets allow the "dom.details_element.enabled" preference to work. I changed the condition to allow bool preferences to be used in chrome stylesheets as well.

Moonchild 6f7dd6fd98 Issue #1783 - Part 2: Update ResizeObserver and resizeObserverSize.
This adds the later spec revision's contentBoxSize and borderBoxSize, and the
inlineSize and blockSize concepts.
The older spec contentRect remains functional as well for backwards
compatibility with the earlier spec (that was IMHO perfectly fine as it was...)

Moonchild 22a75217e1 Issue #1783 - Part 1: Move GetNodeDepth to ResizeObserver.cpp
GetNodeDepth() is a specialized version for ResizeObserver to get the depth of
a node across Shadow DOM. It's better to have this in ResizeObserver.cpp
instead of the generic ContentUtils.

Also updated the function to bypass the shadow root itself and not count it
because ResizeObserver doesn't observe the shadow root and only needs the
relative depths among all observed targets. IOW we use the flattened tree here.

Olivier Certner 264b79b31d Issue #1761 - Enable use of Tauthon instead of Python 2.7 at build
Make essential Tauthon's builtins and modules available in sandboxes, without
disrupting building with Python 2.7.

1. Allow new builtins and modules. "__build_class__" is for
building... new-style classes (to handle the new metaclass syntax imported from
3.x). "_oserror" is necessary because of internal changes to raise errors
deriving from OSError (which are reported as IOError if not caught).
2. Look for modules and packages in the right places.

This was tested on FreeBSD, and should work out of the box on Linux.

athenian200 e946ca91fb Issue #1752 - Implement "prefers-color-scheme" as a user preference.
This PR passes all current tests for this feature, and implements the "prefers-color-scheme" media query as an enumerated keyword that is controlled by an integer preference.

Currently, the possible options are 0 to see a website's fallback code and essentially behave like this isn't implemented (our current behavior), 1 to express a preference for a light theme (the default for spec reasons), and 2 to express a preference for a dark theme. Over time, this list may expand to include other preferences like a preference for a sepia theme or something, and this leaves us prepared for that future.

Olivier Certner 1305a9187e Issue #1730 - Part 2: harfbuzz: Remove some useless define causing a build error
Defining _POSIX_C_SOURCE to 199309L on FreeBSD causes compile errors, because of
an obscure interaction between system wrappers and libc++ headers. The source
doesn't seem to need it at all, which tests confirm.

I bet that this is not needed either on other modern systems (even those based
on glibc), and that the define could probably be entirely removed. Not trying
it because I can't test it myself.

Olivier Certner 5f29c78f7c Issue #1730 - Part 1: Interpose malloc even on RTLD_DEEPBIND presence
New FreeBSD versions have introduced RTLD_DEEPBIND (see dlopen(3)), which
triggers a provoked build error to be on the "safe" side.

Indeed, improper use of RTLD_DEEPBIND could cause malloc interposing not to
work on specific libraries. This would happen for libraries that provide their
own malloc/free and exchange pointers with other libraries or the main program,
one allocating an area and another one deallocating it.

It seems it happened for glibc, which is not a concern on FreeBSD, and for the
Flash Player (not a concern either, there is no native Flash Player). Moreover,
there is only a single reference to RTLD_DEEPBIND in the whole platform
currently, namely in the WebRTC code, but the corresponding code chunk is
compiled-in only on Linux (and this library doesn't seem to redefine malloc
functions anyway). So I don't see how a problem could happen. Additionally,
Pale Moon, which is my focus, doesn't use WebRTC.

Olivier Certner f3405dbede Issue #1729 - Support building/linking against libc++ 9+
Including <cstdlib> must never trigger inclusion of "mozalloc.h", because the
first thing this one does is precisely to include <cstdlib>.

It is now the case that, in libc++ 9 and beyond, <cstdlib> includes <math.h>
which then tries to include <type_traits>, which the STL wrapper intercepts,
trying to load "mozalloc.h". Same problem happens with <limits>.

- Moved the getRootNode pref to a better place (no change)

Olivier Certner 91f7c9d30e Issue #1699 - Part 3b: mozjemalloc: Bootstrap allocator, early diversion for FreeBSD
Coded a simple memory allocator meant to be used during jemalloc bootstrap
(malloc_init_hard()). Although protected by "#ifdef __FreeBSD__", it is not
FreeBSD-specific: Any POSIX platform could use it.

Hook it so that it is used in place of jemalloc's own routines while
malloc_init_hard() is executing or memory for mutexes is being
allocated. Currently, 'malloc', 'calloc', '*memalign' and 'free' are diverted
during init or lock initializations.

Details are quite complex, see the big comment block starting with "There are
several problematic interactions between FreeBSD's libthr and this jemalloc."
for more explanations.

Also replaced ad-hoc BSD code to determine the number of CPUs with 'sysconf',
which is POSIX-compliant (and supported on modern BSDs).

Olivier Certner f76695c1ce Issue #1699 - Part 3a: mozjemalloc: Memory barriers on 'malloc_initialized'
The barriers are here to make sure that setting 'malloc_initialized' at end of
init must be noticed later by any thread running on a different core. They are
in theory necessary in the absence of an explicit pthread lock.

What could happen is that the thread doing the initialization later spawns
other threads that could not have the updated 'malloc_initialized' value,
leading to a second initialization. This is dependent on whether OSes force a
full memory barrier before the new thread is run, which I don't know, and don't
want to bother.

This was done for FreeBSD only, for the sake of robustness. In theory, this
would be needed on Windows too.

Olivier Certner da217348d9 Issue #1699 - Part 2: libevent: Remove 'evutil_secure_rng_add_bytes'
In fact, this is a security threat.

This function calls 'arc4random_addrandom', which was removed from the
reference implementation 7 years go [1], on the ground that this was in fact an
internal interface which is almost impossible to use correctly. This update has
since then been propagated to other implementations (e.g., FreeBSD, IllumOS,
Android).

Do this for all platforms, since 'evutil_secure_rng_add_bytes' is not even used
in the current tree, and for the reason stated above, should never be.

Moonchild 0e6a9cc60a Issue #1705 - Part 3: Rename ScrollbarStyles to ScrollStyles.
ScrollbarStyles contains values of overflow, (over)scroll-behavior, etc.
The only one which is marginally related to scroll _bars_ is overflow, which can
be used to hide scrollbar (by making an element not scrollable) or enforce the
scrollbar to display.

It makes more sense to be called ScrollStyles as it's mainly concerning behavior
of scrolling, not scrollbars. Also, with the addition of scrollbar width
properties, the current name can be confusing.

Moonchild 4681e04dc5 Issue #1705 - Part 2: Add a ShowScrollbar enum to be used in ScrollReflowInput.
Overflow properties have two purposes:
1. controlling whether the scrollbar should be shown;
2. controlling whether the content is scrollable.

However, with the scrollbar-width property being added, scrollability and
presence of a scrollbar are no longer tied together.
This patch makes a separation between the value of overflow and the presence of
a scrollbar by making it clear that for ScrollReflowInput, we only care about
whether scrollbar should be shown.
This should make it easier to write the logic involving presence of the
scrollbar based on webdev choice.

athenian200 49765b53af Issue #1673 - Part 1: Allow tab-size to accept <length>.
Currently -moz-tab-size only accepts <number> values, and both Chrome and Firefox currently support <length> values and have for some time now. So with this you would be able to support sizes in px or em, for instance. This was implemented in Firefox 53 and was trivial to backport.

athenian200 1fc996152b Issue #1668 - Part 2: Visited color and auto support for caret-color property.
Mozilla's original implementation of this failed a couple of tests, but this seems to solve all the problems. Basically, the caret-color wasn't able to be set differently based on whether a link was visited, and the auto value implementation was incomplete. The only test we fail now is the one where you have grey text on a grey background and the caret is supposed to be visible, but I think that may have been removed from the spec. Even if it wasn't, no other browser supports it anyway.

This CSS property allows input carets (that blinking input cursor you see in text fields), to be given a custom color. This was implemented in Firefox 53, and it was such a minor feature that no one ever missed it, but I don't see any harm in implementing this.

athenian200 b8c604196b Issue #1647 - Followup: Remove excessive VARIANT_OPACITY statements.
I got very anxious about making sure I included VARIANT_OPACITY in all the places VARIANT_NUMBER was included to make sure it couldn't possibly break unexpectedly, and that led to me accidentally breaking a mechanism that prevented percentages from serializing as numbers in other parts of the code. It was a total accident, and these additions were unnecessary. Basically, the situation is that there was one part of the code where it determines what's allowed for the flex statement (and possibly other statements) by checking whether it got stored as a "number", and basically only disallows percentages if it attempted to store/serialize them as percentages.

However, it only got to that part of the code because I accidentally allowed VARIANT_OPACITY as a valid way for certain tokens to parse where it wasn't necessary. If it tries to parse it that way under very specific circumstances... percentages will be marked valid and fed through the system as numbers rather than being rejected and not serialized at all, because the check to disallow percentages there relied on them being stored as percentages.

It's a really weird thing to have a problem with in a lot of ways, because if percentages aren't allowed in a field, you would think people wouldn't try to use them there, much less depend on the broken behavior that results from them not parsing as a related value.

athenian200 b5c9f8e24e Issue #1647 - Part 2: Implement VARIANT_OPACITY to correctly serialize.
Even though percentages are already treated as floats internally by the style system for computation purposes, you have to go out of your way to stop them from being read back out as percentages. What I do here amounts to storing the percentage token in the "wrong" container, the one normally used for floats. This allows a value that was read in as a percentage to be read back out as something else, which is normally prevented by the design of the style system.

athenian200 51764ac722 Issue #1647 - Part 1: Implement percentage for CSS opacity keywords
This preliminary step allows percentages to be computed and display correctly,
but unfortunately it fails a test after changing VARIANT_HN to VARIANT_HPN because that allows values to be serialized as percentages. However, not doing this means percentages are rejected as valid values for the user to input. The way the style system is setup makes it hard to change this for opacity without changing it for everything else, especially since some code-saving speed hacks in Bug 636029 and Bug 441367 that make a lot of assumptions about this stuff very rigid.

Moonchild 46595e3905 Issue #457 - Silence SQLite compiler warning
Our use of SQLite explicitly avoids using MSVC's _msize which the lib would
notrmally use. This was set up this way in BZ bug 719579 for legitimate reasons
(because _msize would end up using the system symbol, which would crash trying
to get the size information from jemalloc allocations). Since we build the
SQLite lib separately there is no easy way to avoid this warning as it's not
directly linked against mozglue.dll which has the jemalloc functions it wants
for _msize when not using the system allocator. It is implicitly assuming the
function is an extern returning an int (with the call specifically casting to
int) which is correct (well, correct _enough_, anyway) so the warning can
safely be ignored for our specific use as it all lines up at link time.

Gaming4JC 22c6728132 Issue #1620 - Intrinsic Aspect Ratio: Debug Follow up.
Newly introduced aspect-ratio property did not have CSS_PROP_LIST_EXCLUDE_INTERNAL defines, resulting in the following assertion:
\!nsCSSProps::PropHasFlags(p, (1<<28)) (properties defined outside of #ifndef CSS_PROP_LIST_EXCLUDE_INTERNAL sections must not have the CSS_PROPERTY_INTERNAL flag), at ...layout/style/nsCSSProps.cpp:289

This patch resolves the assertion by adding #ifndef around the aspect-ratio property.

athenian200 931e8d29fa Issue #1629 - Part 3: Implement behind preference.
This is not very "clean," and is mostly done in the same sloppy way as Emilio did it because that's basically the only way you can do it. Note well that this does NOT actually turn off everything I've done in a clean fashion like ifdefs would. For instance, the Explicitly Enabled flag is still present, but is now always false because the only condition that can set it true is behind the pref and therefore inert when this pref is off. Also, because the arguments of SetDisabled have changed, my modifications to SetMozDisabled must be present regardless of whether the pref is on or off. What I have done is turn off the actual reflection of the disabled attribute in Disabled and SetDisabled, as well as in AfterSetAttr.

However, turning the pref off seems to restore more or less our old behavior, though there may be subtle differences unlike with an ifdef since this is, unfortunately, not an exact science and I can only turn off changes that happen within individual functions and not changes in how functions interact with each other.

athenian200 6862326357 Issue #1629 - Part 2: Implement the Explicitly Enabled flag.
This part of the bug was significantly complicated by the following major refactors:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1456435
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1459498

As best as I can tell, we just need to implement the explicitly enabled
flag on every instance of GetStyleSheetInfo, make sure
aIsExplicitlyEnabled is false in every situation except the one where
the disabled content attribute is removed from a link element, and
enable alternate stylesheets if this flag is set on them. So we take the
explicitly enabled flag as an input to PrepareSheet, and also add it to
LoadStyleLink and LoadInlineStyle. I also decided not to defer loading of
alternate stylesheets that have been explicitly enabled.
2020-08-13 01:09:58 -05:00
athenian200 a9f337ea7c Issue #1629 - Part 1: Implement basic logic in HTMLLinkElement.
So basically, I'm trying to adapt this to UXP:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1281135

The earliest source of difficulty while adapting Bug 1281135 to our codebase was simply getting the new ErrorResult flag added to the SetDisabled function to play nice with the SetMozDisabled function. At this point, the implementation can actually have a stylesheet be disabled by default but there are supposedly issues with alternate stylesheets.

At first I played around with the return type of SetMozDisabled to no avail, but I found another solution fairly quickly.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=846972
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1157898

Essentially, the way around the problem of the number of return arguments not matching up is to declare a local variable within SetMozDisabled called ErrorResult rv, and using that to store the return value of the ErrorResult argument from SetDisabled. After that, because ErrorCode was removed, you would return rv.StealNSResult() in order to report success or failure to any consumer that calls on SetMozDisabled.

I meant to do this a long time ago, but basically it accounts for the new XP_SOLARIS build flag that never made it into the MailNews code. Additionally, it enables a compatibility flag for Solaris 11.4 that allows us to use the three-argument implementation of ctime_r still used by Solaris 11.3 and illumos (which also appears equivalent to the NSLDAPI_CTIME implementation used by libldap internally). Also, the ctime_r function has been added to the time.h header library for a while now, not sure why Mozilla thought we didn't have a ctime_r implementation.

EnvironmentSlot when it was supposed to be created, but we can just store it in
the latter slot straight away and check the module's status and return null if
it shouldn't exist yet.

This reduces the number of slots needed on a moduleObject to 17.

Re: BZ 1420412 Part 1
We can't implement the second part to further reduce our number of slots,
because it relies on SetProxyReservedSlot which in turn relies on
rearchitecturing JS proxies to make reserved slots dynamic. That's a rabbit hole
we really don't want to fall into.
So, we'll end up being a bit slower because it can't be in-line allocated with
having more than 16 slots, but so be it. I sincerely doubt it will make any
practical difference.

Moonchild 43e0632cd4 Issue #618 - Align error handling for module scripts with the spec (again)
This updates module implementation to match spec regarding handling of
instantiation errors, after it was changed yet again, this time to not remember
instantiation errors, but instead immediately rethrow applicable ones.

Moonchild 9b60e71109 Issue #618 - Remove context and heap-idle check
For checking if a module is in an error state and what the error is, it
shouldn't matter if we are currently GC-ing or not. So we don't need to check
for it, which removes the requirement to pass in the JS context (needed for
AssertHeapIsIdle's runtime check); this unblocks progress where otherwise we'd
have to figure out what the context is at the module level just to satisfy this
check.
